Domestic Violence Response Unit
The San Francisco Police Department's Domestic Violence Response Unit (D.V.R.U.) is located at the Hall of Justice. The Domestic Violence Response Unit specializes in investigating relationship based domestic violence and stalking cases. An Inspector from the unit attempts to contact every complainant for follow up investigation and services. The Domestic Violence Response Unit handles rebookings, which are cases where a person has been arrested for a felony domestic violence case which occurred in San Francisco. These cases are time sensitive, and the Inspector has forty-eight hours to investigate and present the case to the District Attorney for review. The D.V.R.U. also investigates non-arrest reports for warrant consideration. Non arrest cases require extensive investigation and are presented to District Attorney for warrant review. Casa de las Madres advocates work in the Domestic Violence Response Unit office.
